This director's cut is actually a combination
of two spots by Mark Celentano of Compulsive Pictures. One spot, titled
"Floss" portrays an umpire practicing his calls in a mirror
while flosing his teeth, while the second spot, "Underwear,"
depicts the same umpire --clad only in his underwear -- alone in the locker
room practicing gestures along with his calls for "safe" and
"out." This amalgamation sets the two spots, which originally
played out mostly in single takes, to music before the umpire suits up
for the game.
A young man who's just got a piercing in his
nose is worried about what his father's reaction will be. The imposing
father, sitting on the porch drinking a Coke, has an unexpectedly calm
reaction.
This rough cut was assembled for the director
to get a feel for what structure and pacing might work. In it, a young
man named Abrams is playing online poker at work when his boss confronts
him. Rather than make up an excuse, he boldly goes "all in"
and confesses his slacking. His boss, taken aback, can't believe it, and
folds, deciding to move on rather than continue the confrontation. Meanwhile,
two TV-style poker experts offer color commentary in the background.
A moving catalogue, produced for online and in-store presentation, evoking the work of legendary Italian director Federico Fellini (8 1/2, La Dolce Vita) while showcasing men's fashion available for the holiday season.
